Dr. Mike Cvelich earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the UNC Adams School of Dentistry, where he graduated first in his class with Distinction and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. He completed his orthodontic residency through the Tri-Service Orthodontic Residency Program at the Air Force Postgraduate Dental School in San Antonio, and later earned his Master of Science, researching the accuracy of 3D-printed versus thermoplastic orthodontic retainers. Dr. Mike is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Mike spent 10 years as a dentist and orthodontist in the U.S. Navy, including two overseas tours in Naples, Italy, and Okinawa, Japan, where he earned two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals for his leadership as a dental department head. A native of the Triangle (Apex/Cary), Dr. Mike is thrilled to be back home in North Carolina, joining Gladwell Orthodontics after a good friend from dental school spoke highly of the practice's talented, patient-focused team. He especially loves working with kids and teens and watching their confidence grow as their smiles take shape, and he's excited to put the practice's Invisalign expertise to work for his patients.
Dr. Mike and his wife, Dr. Mackenzie Cvelich, a pediatric dentist in the Triangle, are proud parents to three boys: Campbell, Thomas, and Anderson. Outside the office, Dr. Mike enjoys golfing, hiking, fishing, and skiing, and the family loves planning trips around outdoor adventure. A retired competitive basketball player, he now channels that energy into cheering on his Tar Heels. Dr. Mike is excited to be home and looks forward to meeting you and your family.
