There are countless benefits to Invisalign. First and foremost, the aligners are clear and comfortable. Nobody will know you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment unless you tell them. This is great news if you lead a busy life and don’t want traditional metal braces which may disrupt it.
Invisalign aligners are also removable, meaning you can take them out of your mouth every time you eat, drink, brush, and floss. If you stick to your orthodontist’s treatment plan and keep your aligners in your mouth for at least 22 hours per day, your teeth will slowly but surely shift to where they need to be.
Invisalign and Mouthwash
If you’re in a hurry, you may be tempted to keep Invisalign aligners in your mouth instead of removing them to brush and floss. You might also want to use some mouthwash to quickly freshen up. We suggest that you avoid using mouthwash when Invisalign is in your mouth. Its coloring or harsh chemicals may stain your aligners.
It’s important to note, however, that you can still use mouthwash during Invisalign treatment. Just make sure you do so when your aligners are out of your mouth and you’ve already brushed and flossed your teeth. As soon as you rinse with mouthwash and complete your oral care routine, put your aligners back in.
Keep Your Aligners in Good Shape
By brushing your aligners gently with a soft bristled toothbrush and clear soap, you can ensure your aligners remain in excellent condition. Once you scrub away any food particles, rinse them with cold water. While you can use denture cleaner to clean your aligners as well, Invisalign brand cleaners are encouraged for the optimal deep clean. Don’t use hot water as doing so can warp your aligners.
