Here at Gladwell Orthodontics, many patients ask us whether they can finish their Invisalign treatment early. It’s important to understand that the length of time you will need Invisalign will depend on the complexity of your case and how often you wear your aligners.
Invisalign typically takes about a year for teenagers and up to two years for adults. If you are interested in Invisalign, Dr. Jason Gladwell will let you know how long an Invisalign treatment will take you during a complimentary Invisalign consultation.
Once you find out how long your specific Invisalign treatment will take, know that there are certain factors that can lengthen and shorten your treatment. If you fail to wear your aligners for at least twenty-two hours a day or refuse to wear them at school or work, your Invisalign treatment will likely take longer. In the event that you have a particularly complex tooth alignment or many teeth that need to be moved, you can expect a longer treatment time as well.
To ensure that your Invisalign treatment is as short as possible, you must adhere to Dr. Gladwell’s instructions to a tee. If he tells you to wear your aligners for at least twenty-two hours a day, be sure to do just that. In addition, you should take good care of your Invisalign aligners by brushing out food particles or plaque and notifying our office if one becomes cracked. Lastly, if you travel often for school at work, don’t forget to take your aligners with you.
