What We Do
Our orthodontic team specializes in addressing dental issues such as crooked, gapped, twisted, overlapped, or crowded teeth, as well as overbites and underbites, to improve your appearance and the way your mouth functions. We use appliances like traditional braces, which rely on metal or ceramic brackets and wires to slowly move teeth into the correct position(s) over one to three years.
Traditional braces are highly effective. However, they are also visible every time you open your mouth, which affects your appearance. They also require tightening through regular visits to our office. You must avoid certain edibles, such as hard foods and sticky candy, and may find it more difficult to clean your teeth by maneuvering around the metal. Ceramic versions are available, which are less visible because they take the color or your natural teeth.
A more modern alternative is Invisalign, which consists of clear aligners that are customized to your mouth and remain nearly invisible because of their transparency. Because they are removable, you can continue eating your favorite foods and cleaning your teeth as usual by simply removing them. Every two weeks or so, you wear a new Invisalign tray, which fit the now-modified position of your teeth. Invisalign treatment generally takes a year to 18 months.
After treatment using braces or Invisalign is completed, your teeth remain in their new positions only when you wear clear retainers that are tailored to your mouth.
