Dr. Philip Worthington grew up in Fairfax, Virginia, and received a Bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce. He then attended the University of Virginia School of Law and practiced as a corporate and securities attorney in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for two years. After deciding that his passion did not lie in the practice of law, Dr. Worthington gained admission to the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry on a United States Air Force scholarship. Upon graduation from dental school, he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Scott AFB in Illinois and went on to practice as a general dentist for four years at the David Grant USAF Medical Center at Travis Air Base in California. After completing his active military service Dr. Worthington moved to North Carolina to complete his orthodontic residency at the UNC School of Dentistry, receiving his Master’s degree. He loves the profession of orthodontics because of the opportunity it offers to connect with patients while working together to design beautiful smiles.
Dr. Worthington lives in Durham with his wife, Jamie, and their five children Wade, Norah, Holl, Avy, and Mary Graham. Dr. Worthington continues to serve as a dentist in the Air Force Reserve at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with Jamie,
taking Wade fishing, visiting local bookstores with Norah, coaching Holland’s soccer team, practicing volleyball with Avy, attending Mary Graham’s gymnastics competitions, and following UVA sports.
