One Tooth Sticks Out – Do I Need Invisalign or Braces?

Many of our patients come to us to resolve a mouth full of crooked teeth. Other patients, however, only have one tooth that sticks and wonder whether they need Invisalign or braces. Since there is only one tooth that bothers them so they may be hesitant to undergo full orthodontic treatment. However, they may want to fix their issue as it may make them feel self-conscious and embarrassed every time they smile.

Here at Gladwell Orthodontics, we recommend Invisalign aligners instead of traditional metal braces for patients who have one or a few crooked teeth. They can quickly straighten the crooked teeth in a discreet and comfortable manner. Invisalign aligners can help them avoid the discomfort that often comes with metal bracket and wires.

Since Invisalign aligners can be removed for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing, they don’t disrupt a patient’s everyday life. Instead of a mouthful of traditional metal braces to straighten their minor orthodontic issue, they can wear Invisalign clear aligners, which are virtually invisible to the naked eye. Our friends at PHDermatology in Clearwater, Florida have told us Invisalign gets more and more popular ever year amongst their patients.

As long as aligners are worn for at least 22 hours a day, they can perform their intended function and resolve one or a few teeth that stick out. Treatment time varies from patient to patient but is typically less than a year. Our Lakewood, Colorado dental friends, Mile High Smiles, state many of their patients on want one or two teeth fixed.
