Start Ups Similar to Invisalign – Are They Safe as Alternatives to Braces?

The biggest issue when it comes to dental care is the cost. Many people can not afford to pay for braces or Invisalign, or an alternative to straightening teeth. Many people do not get proper dental care because of this, or they do not see the benefits of how having straight teeth can help them other than being ascetically pleasing. There are other reasons other than aesthetic to get your teeth fixed; properly aligned teeth are easier to clean, easier to chew, and less likely for bacteria buildup.

The cost of braces or Invisalign can range from around $4,500 to $6,500 for children, and up to around $7,000 for adults. With prices like that it is understandable how many people would avoid getting their teeth fixed, but what if there were cheaper options.

There are some startups that people have been looking in to, especially if they cannot afford the prices for Invisalign and braces. As well as cutting costs, these startups are even trying to cut the amount of visits to the orthodontists. Some startups are Uniform Teeth, Candid, SmileDirectClub, and Orthly which are working towards reducing the costs of the invisible aligners, as well as trying to cut down the amount of in-person visits. Uniform Teeth is a startup that began in the beginning of the new year, and their costs are around $3,500. They have a licensed orthodontist which require you to come in for a visit to get X-rays, scans, and to do a dental health exam. The in-person visits after the initial one are not required, you can just check in with your orthodontist through their mobil app every week. The patients go in for their last visit to make sure that nothing else is needed and everything worked out well. Always remember, when it comes to your teeth, it is best to err on the side of caution and choose an orthodontist with a great deal of experience. Dr. Jason Gladwell is one of three Invisalign Diamond Plus providers in the entire state of North Carolina.

There are other startups such as Candid and Orthly that are newer to the market, but one that has been around since 2014 is SmileDirectClub. They ship invisible aligners to their customers after using teledentistry to virtually connect the patients with dentists and orthodontists. SmileDirectClub has helped thousands of people straighten their teeth.
