Teeth Shifted After Braces – What Should I Do?

Unfortunately, many people have had metal braces in the past and found that their teeth have shifted back into their original position. This can be frustrating, especially since braces are a costly and time-consuming endeavor. The good news is that it is possible to resolve teeth that have shifted after braces.

Here at Gladwell Orthodontics, we recommend Invisalign to patients who would like to correct their teeth after they have shifted in a discreet and comfortable way. Invisalign aligners are clear and virtually invisible to the naked eye. You can remove them any time you eat, drink, brush, or floss your teeth.

As long as you wear your aligners for at least 22 hours each day, your teeth will slowly but surely move to their proper positions. After you complete your Invisalign treatment plan, you may need to wear a retainer to keep your teeth straight.

Wearing a retainer is important, especially if you’d like to avoid undergoing orthodontic treatment for the third time. If you believe you’ll have issues wearing a retainer as prescribed, Dr. Gladwell may recommend a permanent retainer that cannot be removed.

If you lead a busy life and don’t want to go through another round of metal braces, Invisalign may be right for you.
